ESC 2.9.5 Client Manual
Mobile Unlock - Local Management Access Recovery
During the initialization of drive security or when changing your administrator password, you will be
asked to back up your drive username and password as a text file or as a printout. It is highly
recommended that you back up these credentials, and that you back them up to a drive (e.g. removable
media, but not the drive that was locked) or print them. Otherwise, if you lose access to the drive with
the backup you will not be able to access your credentials. You may also back up the credentials by
going to:
ESC -> Trusted Drive -> Manage -> Backup
To recover from a lost password situation:
A. If your backup is on a USB flash drive, insert the flash drive into another computer and read the
text file for the administrator username and password that must be used. Plug in the drive and
enter the administrator username and password when prompted to unlock the drive.
B. If your backup is on a printout, refer to the printout to find the administrator username and
password.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT leave the backup in an area that is accessible to others, as the administrator
username and password might be compromised.
IMPORTANT: If you do not back up the password, you will not be able to
recover access to the data should you forget the password.
